The client is starting a new innovation team and is seeking a Senior Business Analyst – Data Engineering Focus to support the rollout of a data lake and a broader data migration initiative. Reporting to the Director of Data Science, this role will serve as a critical liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams—translating business needs into actionable technical requirements. The successful candidate will help ensure high-quality data integration and alignment with governance and compliance standards throughout the project lifecycle.
This is a remote position; however, to be considered, candidates must reside in or near one of the following locations: New York, Pennsylvania, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Boston, Washington, D.C., Reston, Chicago, San Diego County, or Seattle. Compensation for this role will vary based on geographic location and local market factors.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst with a focus on data-centric projects, including data engineering and data migration
- Strong knowledge of modern data engineering tools and methodologies, including practical experience with data lakehouse environments (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory)
- Advanced SQL skills for data manipulation, analysis, and querying
- Familiarity with data governance and metadata management tools
- Exposure to enterprise-scale cloud platforms and integration practices
- Understanding of relational, dimensional, and columnar data models
- Working knowledge of reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI, Jupyter Notebooks, or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- Relevant certifications in Azure, Databricks, or Snowflake technologies
- Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks
- Understanding of performance optimization strategies for high-volume data environments
- Knowledge of Delta Live Tables, Unity Catalog, or similar advanced data tools
