Independent Consultant - Audit and Audit Readiness

District Partners LLC has been engaged by a carefully vetted selection of reputable CPA firms and accounting advisory firms to supplement their assurance staffing for the upcoming surge in workload (2023 busy season) and related audit-readiness projects.


The opportunity: Working alongside an audit or audit-prep team, you will be responsible for auditing certain financial statement line items and process and control workflows. Specific assignments will depend on level and type of experience.


How is this different than the traditional busy season experience? YOU WILL BE PAID FOR EVERY HOUR YOU WORK! The assignment will be for a time delineated period. Read: not a never ending busy season like you may have worked in the past! Once your assignment is over, you can choose to take a break or we'll work to help you identify additional project-based engagements!


What You'll Do:

  • Audit Readiness: Work independently or as part of a team to ensure entity is ready for the imminent year-end financial statement audit. Responsibilities will include account reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, investigation of discrepancies, preparation of PBCs, etc.
  • Audit Readiness: Support Controller or finance department representative through the audit
  • Audit: utilizing accounting principals and auditing standards, execute upon the planned fieldwork for the assigned financial statement and business process areas
  • Analyze transactions and report on variances
  • Document findings in workpapers
  • Assurance engagements will vary from integrated, full-scope audits to reviews


What You'll Have:

  • CPA strongly preferred and required for Manager level and above
  • 2-5+ years experience in public accounting providing assurance services
  • Demonstrated track record of providing exceptional client service through strong technical, analytical, and communication skills
  • Proficient in audit tools and Microsoft Office, especially Excel
