District Partners has been engaged by a growing, privately held services organization seeking a Head of Finance & Accounting to lead its finance function and partner directly with the CEO. The company is entering its next stage of growth and is investing in the financial infrastructure, systems, reporting, and team needed to support a significantly larger organization over time. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can own the accounting function while also serving as a strategic and operational finance partner to the business.
The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable getting into the details and stepping back to see the bigger picture, from reviewing financials and managing cash to building forecasts, analyzing profitability, improving reporting, and advising leadership on key business decisions.
This is a high-visibility role in a growing, performance-driven organization. The successful candidate is hardworking, responsive, collaborative, and comfortable being deeply involved in the business. They bring ideas and solutions rather than simply reporting the numbers and can operate effectively with both executives and operational teams. The company is looking for someone who can become a trusted partner to the CEO, who is approachable and low-ego, but confident enough to provide perspective, challenge assumptions, and help drive the business forward. This is also intended to be a long-term leadership hire. The right person will have the desire and capacity to grow alongside the organization, building a more sophisticated finance function as the size and complexity of the business increase.
What You'll be Owning:
- Own the accounting and financial reporting function, including close, general ledger, controls, audit, tax, and compliance.
- Produce timely, accurate, and actionable weekly and monthly financial reporting.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, FP&A, financial modeling, and variance analysis.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, working capital, AR, collections, and banking relationships.
- Develop reporting and analysis around revenue, margins, labor costs, profitability, and key operating metrics.
- Partner directly with the CEO and leadership team on financial, operational, and strategic decisions.
- Build dashboards and management reporting that provide greater visibility into business performance and forward-looking trends.
- Strengthen and scale financial processes, systems, controls, and reporting to support continued growth.
- Build the finance organization over time, determining when and where additional people, systems, and capabilities are needed.
- Manage external relationships with banks, CPA firms, tax advisors, and other financial partners.
- Lead and develop the accounting and finance team.
- Support future growth initiatives and potential transactions.
What You'll Bring to the Table:
- Accounting and finance leadership experience within a growing, privately held or middle-market organization.
- Experience helping an organization scale through multiple stages of growth strongly preferred.
- Experience in a labor-intensive, project-based, industrial, or services-oriented business preferred.
- Strong accounting foundation combined with FP&A and operational finance experience.
- Demonstrated ability to build or improve a finance function, including processes, reporting, systems, controls, and team structure.
- Experience owning budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, working capital, and management reporting.
- Ability to analyze margins, labor economics, profitability, and operational KPIs.
- Experience managing external financial partners and banking relationships.
- Strong Excel skills; dashboarding and business intelligence experience is a plus.
- Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial environment where processes and systems continue to evolve.
- CPA and/or public accounting experience is a plus, but not required.
- Must be based in or willing to commute within the greater Tampa Bay region.
