Why You'll Actually Care

District Partners is partnering with a leading professional services organization looking for QA Engineers who see QA as investigative, not transactional. They want someone who looks at an application and immediately starts asking questions: what could break, what is missing from the testing strategy, what else does this change touch, and how could we make the approach better? The strongest people here will come with observations and a point of view, not wait for a ticket to tell them what to think.

The Basics

You will join a small, lean internal application team supporting multiple business-critical applications and projects. They need mid-to-senior-level QA Engineers who can build regression coverage for existing applications while keeping pace with day-to-day sprint testing. This is a hands-on individual contributor role where curiosity, initiative, communication, and ownership are critical.

What You'll Be Owning

  • Build and maintain regression test repositories for existing applications while identifying gaps in coverage.
  • Own sprint testing from test planning and design through test case creation, execution, and documentation.
  • Test beyond the ticket, considering downstream impacts, edge cases, integrations, and risks that may not have been explicitly identified.
  • Proactively identify weaknesses in how applications are being tested and bring forward ideas for stronger coverage and better testing approaches.
  • Perform hands-on functional, regression, API, database, and application testing across multiple projects.
  • Work directly with developers and stakeholders to clarify requirements, challenge assumptions, and surface issues early.

The Environment

This is a small-team environment inside a larger organization. There are not layers of QA resources to divide up the work, so you need to be comfortable personally owning what needs to get done and thinking beyond your immediate assignment. Candidates coming from smaller, hands-on environments will likely translate best; backgrounds centered primarily on large government, government contracting, or highly segmented enterprise teams may be less aligned. The team values people who do their homework, come prepared with observations and ideas, stay curious, and care about the outcome rather than simply completing the ticket in front of them.

What You Bring To The Table

  • Mid-to-senior-level, hands-on QA experience, ideally within smaller or lean application teams.
  • Strong experience building regression test coverage, not simply executing an established test suite.
  • Experience balancing sprint testing with longer-term regression initiatives across multiple applications.
  • Strong test planning, test case creation, documentation, API, and database testing experience.
  • Experience with TestRail, Xray, Azure DevOps Test Plans, or similar platforms, with Jira and Azure DevOps experience preferred.
  • Experience testing Angular applications with test scripting experience using Playwright and TypeScript.
  • A naturally investigative mindset. You do your homework, form your own point of view, bring questions and ideas to the table, and look beyond the immediate assignment for what could be improved.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

  • Compensation: $50 - $70/hour (based on skills and experience)
  • Location: Washington, DC or Reston, VA
  • Work Model: Hybrid, with 2 days onsite each week
  • Engagement Type: Contract with the potential to convert to full-time based on performance and fit
