District Partners is supporting a large, established organization undertaking a significant enterprise AI adoption initiative. With board-level sponsorship in place, the company is introducing AI capabilities into key areas of the business and is seeking a leader to guide one of its first major AI initiatives from evaluation through rollout.

This role sits within the Program Management Office (PMO) and reports to the PMO Director. The selected project manager will own one of three board-approved AI initiatives end-to-end, helping evaluate AI vendors, shape the implementation strategy, and lead the organization through successful adoption.


This role is not focused on building AI models or developing machine learning systems. It is designed for a leader who understands how AI can be leveraged to drive meaningful business impact inside an organization. The ideal candidate has experience introducing AI capabilities into real business environments—identifying where AI creates value, aligning stakeholders around practical use cases, and guiding teams through implementation and adoption.


The right person will be comfortable participating in AI vendor evaluations, challenging capabilities and claims, and advising executives on how AI can realistically improve workflows, decision-making, and operational efficiency across the organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Own 1 of 3 board-approved AI initiatives from scoping through vendor selection, deployment, and adoption
  • Participate in AI vendor evaluations, including demos and platform assessments
  • Lead the organizational rollout and integration of AI tools and platforms
  • Develop and execute change management and adoption strategies across business teams
  • Identify and manage risks related to AI adoption, including data security, bias, hallucination, and workflow disruption
  • Build and manage project plans, timelines, stakeholder communication, and program reporting
  • Lead executive discussions and working sessions to guide AI decision-making
  • Translate AI capabilities and limitations into clear language for business and leadership stakeholders
  • Partner with IT, operations, and leadership to align AI initiatives with organizational priorities
  • Help the PMO establish repeatable frameworks for future AI initiatives


Required Experience

  • 5+ years of project or program management experience, ideally supporting enterprise technology initiatives or digital transformation
  • Demonstrated experience introducing or implementing AI solutions within an organization
  • Ability to evaluate AI platforms and provide informed recommendations based on real-world experience
  • Strong understanding of AI capabilities and limitations in practical business environments
  • Proven experience leading technology adoption and organizational change initiatives
  • Strong executive communication and facilitation skills
  • Experience operating within or alongside PMO environments
  • PMP or similar certification preferred


Candidates will participate in a structured interview process, including a roundtable discussion designed to evaluate AI fluency, leadership presence, and the ability to guide enterprise AI adoption.
