Litigation Docketing Clerk - Hybrid
A mid-sized law firm based in Midtown Manhattan is seeking a Litigation Docketing Clerk for a growth role in their office. This is a hybrid role with 3 days in-office.
This person should have at least 2 years of docketing experience and experience with docketing software (such as CourtAlert or similar). Ideally, this person would have experience e-filing in Federal and State courts, but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the Firm’s master litigation calendar, including establishing notification protocols and managing individual attorney calendars
- Prepare calendar and docket reports upon request
- Calculate and monitor deadlines in accordance with applicable rules and statutes
- Monitor cases and conduct research on litigants
- Coordinate with outside vendors to obtain publicly filed court documents
- Serve and file court papers electronically and manually
- Collaborate with members of the Managing Clerk’s Office to maintain the Firm’s litigation docket and calendar
- Respond to case team inquiries regarding deadlines, including providing rule interpretation and analysis
- Prepare customized docket and calendar reports as needed
- Coordinate and, when necessary, perform court services functions, including retrieving court documents, reviewing and filing documents, and coordinating with process servers
- Monitor case progress in assigned courts, obtain decisions, orders, and docket updates
- Communicate case status changes to responsible attorneys
- Coordinate work projects with other members of the Managing Clerk’s Office, including docket audits, outstanding motion lists, appeal lists, and business development reports
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in litigation docketing
- Experience with CourtAlert or similar preferred
