Dahlia recruitment Renewables are partnered with a growing renewables business based in the Netherlands to recruit an experienced Driving Surveyor. the business specialise in advanced technology solutions for detecting and mitigating methane emissions for gas distribution network clients. 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Driving Surveyor to support the mission of decarbonising the natural gas industry whilst maintaining public safety and meeting the increasing number of methane emission regulations by detecting methane leaks in gas distribution networks. This role involves driving a company-provided vehicle equipped with advanced methane detection equipment along predetermined routes to identify and report gas leaks in urban, suburban, and rural areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate leak detection vehicles equipped with methane sensors to survey gas distribution and transmission pipelines.
  • Follow specific routes, using GPS mapping and GIS systems to ensure full coverage of assigned areas.
  • Monitor real-time gas readings and identify potential methane leaks.
  • Record and report leak locations accurately using mobile data collection systems or survey tablets.
  • Liaise with relevant gas network emergency teams to ensure rapid response to leak alerts.
  • Perform routine calibration and basic maintenance of survey equipment and ensure vehicles are clean and functional.
  • Comply with all health, safety, and environmental procedures, including road safety and gas safety regulations.
  • Maintain detailed records of daily survey activities and complete documentation in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Valid driving license with a clean driving record.
  • NEN qualified (or capable of passing the certification)
  • Experience in utility surveying, gas leak detection, or a related field preferred but not essential – full training provided.
  • Basic understanding of gas infrastructure and/or environmental monitoring is an asset.
  • Comfortable working alone and driving for long periods.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret sensor data.
  • Competent with technology (e.g., GPS, tablets, handheld data devices).
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Field-based role with extensive daily driving.
  • Work may include early mornings, late evenings/night time driving, weekends, and occasional overnight stays depending on area coverage.
  • Work conducted in varying weather conditions.
