Dahlia recruitment Renewables are partnered with a growing Biogas company based in Cheshire to recruit for an experienced Laboratory Technician. This is a newly created role and offers career progression and a great working culture.
Reporting to the O&M you will play a key role in supporting biogas production operations through laboratory testing, process monitoring, and analytical evaluation of feedstocks, digestates, and biogas. You’ll oversee day-to-day lab activities, maintain high- quality analytical data, and provide technical insights that drive process efficiency and plant performance.
Working closely with process engineers and operations teams, you’ll help optimise anaerobic digestion performance, ensure
compliance with quality standards, and support continuous improvement in biogas yield and stability.
Key responsibilities include
Laboratory Operations & Analysis:
·Conduct routine and advanced laboratory analyses including:
·Operate and maintain bench-scale and pilot-scale anaerobic digesters for process simulation and optimisation trials.
·Manage sampling schedules and ensure all samples are processed accurately and promptly.
Process Optimisation & Support:
·Collaborate with plant engineers and operators to interpret laboratory data and make process recommendations.
·Monitor process health indicators and assist in troubleshooting underperforming systems.
Equipment & Quality Management:
·Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and gas analysers to ensure data reliability.
·Develop, update, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all analytical methods.
·Maintain high standards of data quality, traceability, and reporting in line with company QA/QC systems.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:
·Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and safe handling of biological and chemical materials.
·Maintain a clean and organised laboratory workspace and participate in safety audits and training.
Reporting & Communication:
·Prepare clear and accurate analytical reports, data summaries, and process performance updates for internal stakeholders.
Support R&D and commercial teams with laboratory insights for new project feasibility studies.
Education:
Working towards Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or
Chemical/Environmental Engineering.
Knowledge:
Working with ISO standards would be preferred
