Role Overview
The Senior HR Consultant will serve as a strategic partner to management and key stakeholders, driving the organization’s human capital agenda to support both employees and volunteers. This role is responsible for providing advisory on HR strategy, leading talent development initiatives, implementing training programmes, and ensuring HR policies are relevant, effective, and future-ready.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic HR Planning and Advisory
- Provide expert HR advice and guidance to leadership on workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational development.
- Partner with management to align HR strategies with the overall mission, vision, and goals of the organization.
- Monitor HR trends, best practices, and emerging workforce needs to proactively recommend solutions.
- Develop frameworks for talent acquisition, retention, and employee/volunteer engagement.
2. Leadership and Development for Employees and Volunteers
- Design and implement career development pathways for employees and structured engagement opportunities for volunteers.
- Support managers in performance management, coaching, and leadership development.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and empowerment.
- Build capacity across the organization to strengthen people leadership and team effectiveness.
3. Training Implementation
- Conduct needs assessments and identify training gaps for employees and volunteers.
- Develop and deliver training roadmaps, workshops, and learning modules.
- Partner with external trainers, institutions, and HR networks where appropriate.
- Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness to ensure measurable impact.
4. HR Policy Review and Enhancement
- Review and update HR policies, procedures, and handbooks to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and alignment with best practices.
- Enhance HR frameworks to support a safe, fair, and inclusive workplace.
- Recommend innovative approaches to policies that address evolving workforce expectations (e.g., flexible work, well-being support, digital HR systems).
- Ensure HR policies are effectively communicated and implemented across all levels of the organization.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 8–10 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a senior advisory/consulting capacity.
- Strong track record in HR strategy, organizational development, and policy design.
- Experience working in both employee and volunteer management contexts (non-profit/charity sector experience an advantage).
- Proven ability to design and deliver training programmes and talent development initiatives.
- Excellent knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and workforce development trends.
