Role Description
The Senior Manager, Volunteer Partnership & Engagement reports to the Group Head, Sustainability & Partnership and is responsible for building, leading, and institutionalising an organisation-wide Volunteer Partnership & Engagement Framework across the 4Ts – Ties (connections), Talent (skills), Treasures (donations), and Time. The role builds a governance‑driven Volunteer Management Framework and System (VMS), positioning volunteers as a strategic resource to amplify impact and sustainability.
As a key ambassador, the Senior Manager oversees volunteer policies, culture, partnerships, and reporting, while cultivating strategic collaborations that position the organisation as a partner of choice for individuals and corporates seeking meaningful contribution. The role also drives organisational readiness, quantifies volunteer contribution value, and embeds volunteers as a sustainability lever in cost savings, fundraising, and sector engagement.
Responsibilities
1. Leadership and Governance
- Build and implement a Volunteer Management Framework aligned with NCSS VMMM, foster a volunteer‑friendly culture, and lead governance structures and review processes.
2. Strategic Planning and Role Design
- Develop a multi‑year roadmap, redesign volunteer roles with clear pathways across the 4Ts, and position the organisation as a partner of choice.
3. Volunteer Recruitment and Development
- Drive organisation‑wide recruitment, onboarding, and training strategies, and strengthen staff capability to partner effectively with volunteers.
4. Engagement and Recognition
- Implement engagement tools and strategies to enhance retention and coordinate recognition based on hours served and value contributed.
5. Systems and Reporting
- Oversee the Volunteer Management System (VMS), ensure data quality, integrate metrics into reporting, and support compliance with NCSS standards.
6. Impact Measurement
- Develop frameworks to price volunteer contributions, generate cost‑savings metrics, and produce analytical reports to guide strategic decisions.
7. Sustainability and Organisational Narrative
- Translate volunteer data into compelling narratives for fundraising and reporting, positioning volunteers as a sustainability lever.
8. External Engagement
- Represent the organisation to sector bodies, partners, and donors, build strategic partnerships, and contribute to collaborative initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
- At least 8 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 3 years in leadership or organisation-wide coordination roles.
- Proven track record in designing and implementing frameworks across multiple teams to drive operational excellence.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, build trust, and engage diverse groups.
- Proficiency in digital tools and data‑driven approaches to enhance efficiency and continuous improvement.
Role Engagement & Remuneration
- The role requires flexibility, including occasional evening or weekend commitments to support volunteer activities, engagement events and training sessions.
- This is a hybrid arrangement, with 60% work-from-office and compulsory reporting days on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Remuneration includes non-contractual AWS, organisational bonus, and performance bonus.
