Senior Credit Controller
Location: Cheltenham / Gloucester (Hybrid – 2 days office, 3 days home)
Salary: £28,000 – £34,000 + discretionary bonus (depending on experience)

Our client, a leading global industrial engineering organisation, is hiring a Senior Credit Controller to take ownership of key B2B accounts, strengthen credit governance, and provide day-to-day senior cover and support within the credit function. This role offers the opportunity to step into a visible, trusted position, helping the business protect cashflow, manage risk, and drive smarter, more efficient ways of working.
What you’ll do
- Process new account applications, assess creditworthiness, and set credit limits and payment terms (including complex/high-value customers)
- Manage relationships across a portfolio of key accounts, collecting overdue payments and agreeing practical payment options
- Review and adjust credit limits based on risk and payment history, including releasing orders/accounts on hold where appropriate
- Reconcile customer accounts by allocating payments and reducing unallocated cash
- Maintain accurate account notes and customer communications within CRM
- Monitor overall credit risk across your ledger and contribute to credit risk strategy discussions
- Partner with internal stakeholders and field-based colleagues to resolve queries and maintain account health
- Support continuous improvement through process efficiency initiatives, root cause analysis, and governance reporting
You’ll work closely with Sales, Customer Service, Finance and field teams to keep accounts within terms and ensure customer issues are resolved quickly and commercially.
What we’re looking for
- 4+ years’ experience in credit control / credit services in a B2B environment
- Confident managing complex or high-value accounts and making sound credit decisions
- Strong numeracy and problem-solving ability, with good Excel capability
- Excellent commercial communication skills – able to challenge constructively and influence outcomes
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work to deadlines under pressure
- Understanding of credit governance, compliance, and relevant legislation
- A mindset for improvement – comfortable identifying efficiencies and supporting change
