Quality Systems Engineer


Permanent – Days – Gloucester - Fulltime - £40,000-45,000 + Excellent Benefits


A leading precision engineering manufacturer is seeking a Quality Systems Engineer to support and maintain the company’s Quality Management Systems, with a particular focus on documentation control and compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards. This is an ideal role for someone with a strong grasp of regulated quality systems who wants to take ownership of QMS activity across departments.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards
  • Manage and control documentation, manuals, and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Support internal and external audits, including documentation preparation, CAPA actions, and non-conformance tracking
  • Assist with aligning the QMS to evolving customer, industry, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality system responsibilities are met across new and existing products
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by reviewing and updating QMS documentation and policies
  • Track and report on key Quality System KPIs and performance metrics
  • Stay informed on developments in QMS standards and best practices
  • Assist the wider Quality and Operational teams in maintaining audit readiness and systems integrity
  • Participate in the planning and execution of quality improvement initiatives across the business
  • Perform other QMS-related tasks as required


Person:

  • Strong experience in Quality Engineering within a manufacturing environment governed by AS9100 or similar standards
  • Hands-on experience working with ISO 9001 and AS9100 QMS documentation and processes
  • Working knowledge of quality tools and methodologies such as APQP, PPAP, FAIR, ISIR, and Control Plans (preferred)
  • Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 – beneficial but not essential
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and a process-driven mindset
  • Confident in interpreting engineering drawings and understanding manufacturing documentation
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Able to handle multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
