HSE Advisor – Manufacturing
Manchester – Permanent – Full-time – Monday to Friday, 37 hours – £32,000–£35,000
Are you a confident and proactive health, safety and environment professional looking for your next challenge? We're looking for an HSE Advisor who can champion a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement in a busy engineering and manufacturing environment.
This role sits at the heart of site operations and will play a key part in managing risk, embedding best practices, and supporting the company’s ongoing certifications under ISO 45001, 14001 and 50001 standards.
The Role:
· Provide hands-on support and advice to site teams on all HSE matters
· Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, inspections, and COSHH reviews
· Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and practical training sessions
· Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe behaviours, producing root cause reports and ensuring corrective actions are followed through
· Monitor and report on site HSE performance, contributing to key KPIs and improvement initiatives
· Maintain awareness and compliance with legislation such as PUWER, LOLER, RIDDOR, and Environmental Permitting
· Assist in preparing documentation for environmental reporting, permits and energy data
· Participate in internal audits and help maintain ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 compliance
· Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and proactive risk management
· Support management with sustainability and resource efficiency initiatives
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing legal requirements and HSE trends
The Person:
· NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
· HSE experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or similar industrial setting
· Solid understanding of UK health & safety legislation and ISO systems
· Strong communication and influencing skills across shopfloor and senior levels
· Capable of writing reports, analysing trends, and managing action plans
· Confident leading risk assessments and safety investigations
Desirable:
· NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards)
· TechIOSH or GradIOSH membership
· Experience supporting ISO 45001 / 14001 / 50001 systems
· Familiarity with solvent management plans, A2 permitting, or environmental controls
· Previous experience delivering safety training sessions
