CAD/AM Engineer

Gloucester – Full-Time – Permanent – Mon to Fri (37.5 hrs/week) – Salary £32,000


Are you a CAD wizard with a passion for 3D printing and cutting-edge design-to-production workflows? A global leader in rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing is hiring a CAD & Additive Manufacturing Engineer to join their fast-paced production team in Gloucester.

This is a hands-on role for a technically curious and detail-oriented engineer who thrives in a production environment and wants to work with some of the most advanced AM technologies available.


The Role:

·       Prepare and assess customer CAD files for SLA, DLP, MSLA, FDM, and SLS printing processes

·       Modify CAD models for production using tools like Materialise Magics, Autodesk Powershape, or PTC Creo

·       Generate support structures, orient parts, and prepare slice files for print

·       Create fibre reinforcement strategies for Markforged FDM applications

·       Operate, monitor, and unload a range of 3D printers; remove supports, wash, and cure parts

·       Perform machine calibrations and light maintenance across multiple additive platforms

·       Contribute to PU tooling design by generating insert masters from modified STL models

·       Generate 2D DXF/DWG files for vinyl cutting and transfer printing workflows

·       Work occasional weekends as part of a shared rota to support continuous machine operation

 

The Person:

·       ND or Degree in CAD/CAM, Industrial Design, Product Design, or Engineering

·       Solid CAD skills (surface and parametric modelling), with ability to read technical drawings

·       Familiarity with STL and BRep CAD formats

·       Experience using Materialise Magics and at least one of the following: Autodesk Powershape, PTC Creo

·       A working knowledge of 3D print slicing tools (e.g. 3D Sprint, Cura, PrusaSlicer, Lychee)

·       A hands-on, proactive approach and willingness to support various production areas

 

Desirables:

·       Previous experience working in an Additive Manufacturing or 3D printing environment

·       Understanding of reinforcement strategies for composite 3D printing

·       Interest in rapid prototyping and low-volume production technologies
