Accounts Receivable Specialist (18-Month Contract – Maternity Leave Coverage)

Location: Aurora, ON (Onsite)

Start Date: Immediate

Contract: 18-Month Maternity Leave Coverage, with potential for permanent conversion

Hours: 40-45 per week

Hourly Rate: $30-35/hr (based on previous years of experience)


About the Opportunity

Our client, a rapidly growing organization in the consumer goods sector, is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join their finance team on an 18 month maternity leave contract. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of collections, credit approvals, and customer payment applications, supporting both Canadian and U.S. operations.


This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys managing a variety of customer relationships, and brings strong communication and organizational skills.


What You'll Do:

  • Manage accounts receivable for multiple sales channels, including specialty and U.S. operations.
  • Perform collections and follow-up on overdue accounts with professionalism and persistence.
  • Process and apply customer payments; reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Review and approve credit applications in line with company policies.
  • Maintain AR documentation and reporting to support the Controller and finance leadership.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address billing discrepancies or deduction issues.


What You'll Bring:

  • 3+ years of accounts receivable or credit/collections experience.
  • Background in consumer products, distribution, or retail industries preferred.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills — confident, diplomatic, and resilient.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume, fast-paced environments.
  • Proficient with accounting software (QuickBooks Desktop experience an asset) and EDI invoicing systems.
  • Process-oriented with a disciplined approach to AR management.
