About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an Interim Controller to lead the day-to-day accounting function while supporting key finance transformation and post-merger integration priorities. Reporting to the CFO, this role will manage a team of two accounting professionals and oversee core accounting operations and financial reporting. This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible role focused on strengthening financial infrastructure—driving process improvements, system enhancements, automation, and select AI-enabled initiatives—while ensuring accurate close and compliance. You’ll partner cross-functionally and work closely with external auditors and advisors, contributing to scalable finance operations that support continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, and general accounting through a team of 2
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Ensure financial reporting is complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable accounting standards
  • Lead the annual audit and coordinate with external auditors
  • Support lender, investor, and Board reporting requirements
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and internal controls
  • Lead finance system enhancements and automation initiatives
  • Evaluate and implement AI-enabled solutions to improve workflows, reporting, and operational efficiency
  • Develop and maintain finance policies, procedures, and documentation
  • Support sales and use tax (SALT) initiatives, including nexus assessments and ongoing compliance
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors on indirect tax matters
  • Operationalize and maintain transfer pricing processes aligned to established policies
  • Maintain documentation for intercompany transactions and transfer pricing compliance

What You Bring

  • CPA designation
  • 5–8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, month-end close, and accounting operations
  • Experience leading audits and partnering with external auditors/advisors
  • Proven ability to improve processes and support/implement finance systems
  • Advanced Excel capabilities
  • Comfort managing multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to work cross-functionally

Highly Preferred

  • Experience in a SaaS environment
  • Exposure to indirect tax/SALT compliance
  • Experience with transfer pricing and intercompany accounting
  • Background supporting automation and AI-enabled finance initiatives
