Role Summary
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Financial Analyst will support a high-performing, manufacturing-focused finance team with reporting, planning, pricing, and analytics. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role for someone who enjoys working with large data sets, building models in Excel, and communicating financial insights clearly to non-finance stakeholders. The successful candidate will partner cross-functionally with Commercial/Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Continuous Improvement to translate plant and customer performance into actionable financial insights.
Responsibilities
• Support customer pricing, product profitability, standard costing, and business partnering across departments.
• Assist with new product price bidding and project screening, incorporating manufacturing cost understanding and the product profitability model.
• Coordinate quarterly pricing updates for existing customers in collaboration with Commercial and Operations teams.
• Participate in the oversight and management of the standard costing system and product profitability model.
• Conduct pre-evaluations and post-mortems on significant capital investments; maintain capital asset reporting versus budget and forecast.
• Assist with month-end analysis including net sales, gross margin breakdown, root cause analysis, customer rebate analysis, and volume/rate/mix analyses.
• Partner with the Finance Manager and stakeholders in Commercial Sales, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Sanitation, and Maintenance to report on business performance and conduct financial analyses that improve growth, operational effectiveness, and profitability.
• Support the financial integrity of data and reporting from the ERP system.
• Assist with inventory management, waste reduction initiatives, and the year-end count process.
• Contribute to the development of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Latest Estimate (LE), with focus on sales and variable costs.
• Support oversight of Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives and capital investment evaluation and tracking.
• Maintain internal controls testing documentation and perform internal controls testing.
• Track and maintain Operations KPIs.
• Contribute to special projects and other duties as required.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
• CPA designation or actively working towards one is considered a strong asset.
• 2+ years of experience in a financial, cost, and/or pricing analyst role; CPG manufacturing or production environment experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong business analytics skills with demonstrated attention to detail.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing finance concepts including standard costing and production variance analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling and the ability to work with large data sets.
• Experience with ERP systems; SAP experience is an asset.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software and systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex financial analyses for non-finance colleagues.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously under minimal supervision.
• Strong relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders built on trust and credibility.
• Natural curiosity and initiative to understand business, operational, and accounting processes.
