About the Opportunity

Our client, a scale up cannabis manufacturing company is seeking a Senior Financial Planning Analyst to join their high-growth, operations-focused finance team. This role sits at the intersection of finance and operations and plays a key part in driving financial visibility, improving cost efficiency, and supporting day-to-day decision-making across a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


You will work closely with commercial, operations, and leadership teams to translate financial data into meaningful insights that directly impact production performance, margins, and business strategy. This is a hands-on role for a finance professional who understands manufacturing cost structures, thrives in a dynamic environment, and enjoys being embedded in operational decision-making.


The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, and solutions-oriented, with a strong ability to identify cost drivers, inefficiencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement. You are comfortable working closely with cross-functional teams on the ground and are seen as a trusted partner in driving performance and accountability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead weekly and monthly financial reporting, including actuals vs. forecast, budget, and prior year analysis
  • Provide insights into operational performance, identifying risks and opportunities with actionable recommendations
  • Partner closely with operations, commercial, and leadership teams to support business decision-making
  • Support forecasting and budgeting processes related to production volumes, costs, and margins
  • Analyze production costs, inventory, and variances to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities
  • Ensure accurate cost tracking, accruals, and financial data integrity within systems
  • Investigate discrepancies and work with operations to improve cost controls, reduce waste, and protect margins
  • Support initiatives such as capacity planning, cost optimization, and new product rollouts
  • Deliver ad hoc financial analysis and reporting for senior leadership as required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance and operations


What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally within CPG or manufacturing
  • Strong business and operational acumen with the ability to translate data into insights
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Demonstrated experience or exposure to AI tools (e.g., Claude) considered an asset
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team setting
  • Proven ability to build relationships across all levels of an organization
