Senior Accountant

Location: Toronto, ON

Workplace: 3 days on-site

Salary: $100,000–$110,000


The Opportunity:

Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant to support payroll accounting within a large, fast-paced organization. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, hands-on payroll reconciliation experience, and a solid understanding of controls and compliance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform bi-weekly payroll accounting activities, including journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and payroll-related GL reconciliations
  • Review payroll entries prepared by team members to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting policies
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, analyze payroll variances, and resolve discrepancies
  • Partner with cross-functional teams on payroll processing, issue resolution, and system or process enhancements
  • Prepare audit schedules, respond to audit requests, and maintain strong payroll processes, documentation, controls, and automation initiatives


What We Need From You:

  • CPA designation preferred or in progress
  • 5+ years of relevant experience (public company experience preferred)
  • Strong understanding of payroll accounting, reconciliations, and related regulatory requirements
  • Well-organized with strong communication skills; able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities
  • Proactive and improvement-focused mindset
  • Advanced SAP proficiency
