About the Opportunity

Our client is a high-growth, private equity-backed technology company operating across Canada and the United States. Trusted by thousands of organizations to manage billions of dollars in transactions annually, they sit at the intersection of payments, accounting, and financial compliance, bringing real-time visibility and control to finance teams in a historically underserved market.

Backed by a global investment firm and entering an ambitious phase of organic and inorganic growth, this organization is investing significantly in its people, technology, and financial infrastructure. With multiple acquisitions anticipated over the next two to three years, this is a pivotal moment to join a high-performing finance team and help shape what comes next.

This is an opportunity to step into a senior leadership role at the heart of the company’s accounting function. Reporting to the CFO, the Vice President will own all aspects of accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls, while building and developing a high-performing team of accounting professionals. If you thrive in fast-moving, high-growth environments and are energized by building excellent financial foundations with real business impact, this role offers exceptional scope and visibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive a clean, efficient monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycle; deliver accurate financial statements, board-level reporting packages, and lender compliance materials on cadence.
  • Build and maintain a robust internal controls framework equivalent to SOX standards, with particular attention to the organization’s compliance obligations within a financially regulated environment.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax partners, targeting a clean audit with no material findings.
  • Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals across GL, AP, AR, payroll, and fixed assets, fostering a culture of accountability, role clarity, and operational excellence.
  • Provide hands-on support for M&A activity, including due diligence, purchase price allocations, and post-close integrations, as the company executes its inorganic growth strategy.
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Sales, Legal, and Customer Success on deal structuring, contract review, and revenue recognition under ASC 606.
  • Drive systems optimization and AI-enabled efficiency improvements across a modernizing finance tech stack; champion adoption and process standardization across the team.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic partner to the CFO and executive team, proactively surfacing financial risks and opportunities.

What You Bring

  • 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role; Big Four or large regional public accounting background strongly preferred.
  • CPA designation required.
  • Deep expertise in US GAAP financial reporting, including ASC 606, ASC 842, consolidations, and complex technical accounting.
  • Proven track record building and maintaining internal controls frameworks at scale, ideally within a PE-backed or compliance-intensive environment.
  • Experience in a SaaS, subscription-based, or technology business strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated M&A experience, including due diligence, purchase price allocations, and post-close integration.
  • Experience supporting a company through an audit readiness or exit process considered a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to build, develop, and retain high-performing accounting teams of similar scale.
  • A hands-on, ownership-oriented leadership style with the resilience and adaptability to thrive in a fast-moving, evolving environment.
  • Familiarity with modern ERP platforms and comfort leveraging AI tools within finance workflows.
