Type: Contract (4-6 months with possibility of extension)

Pay: $50-$55/hr (based on previous experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant with the ability to thrive in a complex, project-based environment. This role is hands-on and highly impactful: you will own both general accounting and the discipline of project accounting in a fast-paced setting where data is incomplete, processes are evolving, and commercial teams rely heavily on finance to bring clarity.

This is not a standard reporting role. It requires someone who can roll up their sleeves, chase down information, and make sense of messy inputs to deliver clear, accurate financials.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead month-end accounting: accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Own project accounting from start to finish, including:
  • Allocating costs across shared equipment and labor.
  • Reconciling mobilization/demobilization costs.
  • Ensuring accurate revenue recognition tied to project completion.
  • Partner closely with AP and commercial teams to ensure timely, accurate data flow.
  • Improve use of Business Central for project/job tracking and reporting.
  • Produce reporting that stands up to private equity-level scrutiny on margins and project profitability.

What You Must Have:

  • CPA designation (or CPA-track) with strong general accounting foundation.
  • Proven experience in project-based industries (construction, engineering, marine, industrial services, utilities).
  • Expertise in Microsoft Business Central or similar ERP platforms.
  • Hands-on, proactive approach: able to chase data, solve problems, and not wait for perfect inputs.
  • Strong resilience and adaptability; thrives in changing, high-demand environments.
  • Business-oriented mindset: able to link accounting to operational realities.

What is Nice to Have:

  • Prior experience in marine, logistics, or large-scale industrial projects.
  • Exposure to private equity-owned businesses.
  • Process improvement mindset: ability to bring structure and discipline into unstructured environments.
