Internal Audit Consultant (Contract)

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 1–2 days onsite per week)

Type: Contract (initial term 6 months)

Target Start Date: Early to mid-November

Compensation: $70-90/hr


The Opportunity

Our client, a global organization with a growing internal audit function, is seeking an Internal Audit Consultant to support their team through upcoming audits and advisory work. This role is ideal for a candidate with 5+ years of internal audit or internal controls experience who can step into a fast-paced environment and contribute immediately.


What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct risk assessments and execute audits from the approved audit plan (including expense audits and third-party risk management audits).
  • Prepare audit workpapers, gather documentation from stakeholders, and assist in drafting reports.
  • Support advisory initiatives by contributing to governance, policies, and process improvement efforts as the internal audit function continues to mature.
  • Assist in preparing materials for the Audit Committee.
  • Work closely with the Internal Audit Manager to plan and scope audit activities during the initial months of the contract.


What You'll Bring:

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in internal audit and controls, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a global team structure. Key qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of internal audit or internal controls experience.
  • Familiarity with enterprise risk management and internal audit software (AuditBoard experience preferred).
  • Exposure to SAP environments, particularly segregation of duties.
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance (an asset, not required).
  • Strong written communication skills for audit reporting and stakeholder engagement.


Work Environment

  • Hybrid model: Expectation to be onsite 1–2 days per week, aligned with manager availability.
  • No travel required: All audit activities can be conducted remotely, with no need to visit operational sites.
