About the Opportunity
Our client, a Canadian Manufacturing Company, is seeking a Vice President of Finance to join their executive leadership team. Reporting to the President and serving as a key advisor to the board, this role will provide long-term financial leadership during a pivotal period of organizational change. You will lead the finance function end-to-end, stabilize and elevate the department, and build a high-performing team that supports data-driven decision-making across the business. Partnering closely with operations and other executives, you will shape financial strategy, strengthen processes and controls, and enable sustainable growth in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the finance function end-to-end, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and management reporting to support strategic and operational plans.
- Oversee controllership, internal controls, and financial governance to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable financial information.
- Provide clear, insightful financial analysis and commentary to the President, executive team, and board, translating complex data into actionable recommendations.
- Strengthen financial planning and analysis (FP&A), delivering robust forecasts, scenario analyses, and KPIs that guide decision-making and support growth initiatives.
- Own financial risk management, including identification and mitigation of financial and operational risks, and appropriate insurance coverage.
- Guide capital allocation decisions and investment strategy, ensuring disciplined ROI analysis, value creation, and alignment with long-term business objectives.
- Lead financial due diligence and provide strategic finance leadership for potential M&A or divestiture activity, including evaluation, valuation, structuring, and post-transaction integration planning.
- Stabilize, mentor, and develop the finance team by setting clear expectations, building accountability structures, and fostering a culture of collaboration, performance, and continuous improvement.
What You Bring
- CPA designation is required.
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally within manufacturing or closely related industrial environments.
- Proven experience leading finance teams through periods of change, stabilization, and growth in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
- Demonstrated leadership in financial planning, forecasting, FP&A, and reporting, with a track record of informing board- and executive-level decisions.
- Strong background in financial controls, governance, and risk management, including oversight of audits, compliance, and banking relationships.
- Experience working with ERP systems and partnering with operations/IT to improve data integrity, processes, and scalability.
- Demonstrated success guiding capital allocation, investment decisions, and, where applicable, M&A or divestiture activities.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop finance teams, establishing clear performance expectations and accountability.
- Confident communicator and trusted advisor, able to engage effectively with presidents, boards, owners, and senior leaders.
- Collaborative, people-first leadership style with high integrity, resilience, and sound judgment in periods of organizational change.
