Technical Project Lead / Production Engineer

At Absolem Engineering in Turnhout, we do not build standard machines. We start from the product, dive deep into the process, develop robust manufacturing methods and only then build the right custom-made machine.

For a long-term project involving the development and production of a medical implant, we are looking for an engineer who can help bridge the gap between development and production.

Your role

As Technical Project Lead / Production Engineer, you will:

• take on a key role in the transition from development to production;
• combine technical project leadership with a hands-on production engineering mindset;
• coordinate ongoing process and machine-building developments;
• take the lead during the validation phase, including IQ, OQ and PQ;
• organise, follow up and adjust complex release and validation tests;
• identify risks, issues and improvement opportunities in production processes;
• translate these insights into concrete optimisation actions;
• contribute to work instructions, process parameters and technical documentation;
• support change control, audits and quality systems;
• work closely with colleagues from mechanical design, software, electrical engineering, lab, quality and process development;
• collaborate intensively with the customer team;
• gradually grow into a role with increasing responsibility for the project.

Who are we looking for?

You have:

• a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical field, such as engineering, physics, mechanical engineering, chemistry or a related discipline;
• about 5 years’ experience in project leadership within a technical environment;
• ideally experience in production, process development or validation;
• preferably experience in a regulated environment such as medical, pharma or another quality-driven industry;
• strong analytical skills;
• the ability to bring structure to complex technical challenges;
• fluent communication skills in English;
• good knowledge of Dutch is a plus, the willingness to work in a Dutch-speaking day-to-day environment is a must.

Knowledge of the following is a plus:

• ISO 13485;
• Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP);
• Medical Device Regulation (MDR);
• process validation;
• Lean / Six Sigma;
• Minitab, JMP or Statistical Process Control (SPC).
