Business Development Manager – ASIC Design & Supply

Location: Leuven, Ghent or Berchem | International scope | Part of TDK

Are you an ASIC design expert who enjoys the customer side of technology? Do you understand what it takes to bring a complex chip from first idea to real-world application? And are you ready to turn that technical expertise into long-term business opportunities?

At ICsense, part of TDK, we design and supply custom ASICs for international customers in sectors such as medical technology, automotive, industrial applications and consumer electronics. Think cochlear implants, glucose monitoring systems, epilepsy implants and other innovations where micro-electronics truly make a difference.

To strengthen our commercial team, we are looking for a Business Development Manager who combines deep technical understanding with curiosity, drive and the ability to build trust,  a real sparring partner for customers.

What will you do?

As Business Development Manager, you will be involved from the very first customer conversation and remain a key point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.

You will:

  • Actively reach out to potential new customers via LinkedIn, trade fairs, mailings, calls, meetings and company presentations.
  • Identify new business opportunities and translate them into concrete commercial projects.
  • Qualify customer needs and define project scope in close cooperation with the technical teams.
  • Understand and explain the complexity of ASIC design, acting as a strong interface between customer and engineering.
  • Build long-term relationships with customers worldwide and become their trusted advisor.
  • Stay involved throughout the project phase as a high-level customer contact.
  • Work closely with suppliers and align their capabilities with business opportunities.
  • Initiate marketing activities and participate in trade shows, exhibitions and networking events.
  • Support legal discussions and contribute to contract drafting with customers and suppliers.
  • Coordinate press releases and contribute to business communication.
  • Consult regularly with the Chief Business Development Officer on sales forecasts.

Who are we looking for?

You are technically strong, commercially curious and eager to build relationships. You may already have experience in strategic sales, or you may be an experienced engineer ready to move into a business development role.

You bring:

  • A strong technical background in micro-electronics, ASIC design or chip design.
  • Several years of hands-on design experience; this is important to understand the customer’s challenges.
  • Knowledge of analog and digital design; experience with analog-digital converters is a plus.
  • Strategic sales experience in the semiconductor industry, or the clear potential and motivation to grow into sales.
  • The ability to set up a sales and marketing plan and interpret a P&L.
  • A proactive mindset: you enjoy looking for leads and opening doors.
  • The ability to build relationships at different levels within an organisation.
  • Good planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements.
  • Willingness to travel internationally, on average around 20% of your time, mainly within Europe, with occasional travel to Asia and the US.
  • A base in Belgium, or willingness to relocate here.

This role is probably not for you if you are looking for a pure people management role, a mainly administrative commercial position or a job far removed from technology.

What is in it for you?

At ICsense, you do not sell standard products. You help customers create custom chips that power next-generation applications in medical, automotive, industrial and consumer markets.

You can expect:

  • An attractive salary package with a variety of extra benefits, including a CAO 90 bonus.
  • A financially healthy company with strong growth potential.
  • The stability of being part of TDK, combined with the speed, ownership and team spirit of a Belgian decision-making unit.
  • A highly performant environment with a lot of in-house knowledge and very low employee turnover.
  • The opportunity to work on meaningful IC developments, including medical applications such as cochlear implants, glucose monitoring systems and epilepsy implants.
  • Close collaboration with experienced ASIC design experts, suppliers, management and international customers.
  • The chance to be involved from the very beginning of a customer project and remain connected throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Continuous learning through in-house and external training.
  • Opportunities to participate in temporary assignments abroad.
  • A warm, low-ego team culture with high team member engagement.
  • Regular team activities, from skiing trips and surf activities in Bordeaux to football, company events and initiatives from the party committee.
  • A “Relax & Recharge” working group focusing on topics such as healthy food, mindfulness and sleep habits.

Why ICsense?

  • We combine ASIC design and supply, including chip supply for demanding applications such as medical implants.
  • We work for international customers.
  • We have deep technical expertise in-house and a strong employer brand.
  • We are ambitious, but not full of alpha behaviour.
  • We act as one team, whether we are building chips, meeting customers or playing football.

Ready to make the switch?

Are you an ASIC design professional with commercial flair? Or a semiconductor sales professional who still speaks fluent engineering?

Then we would love to hear from you.

Apply now and help shape the next generation of custom IC developments at ICsense.
