Founding Engineer

Staffing Solutions United (SSU) is partnering with an early-stage, high-growth technology organization seeking a highly motivated Founding Engineer to play a critical role in shaping the company’s technical foundation, architecture, and long-term product strategy.
This is a unique opportunity to work directly with executive leadership and contribute to core technology decisions, system design, and product development from inception through scale. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced startup environments and brings both strong technical depth and strategic thinking.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and build the company’s core platform and infrastructure
- Establish engineering standards, best practices, and scalable system design
- Develop full stack or back-end systems aligned with product vision
- Lead early technical decision-making, including tooling and architecture selection
- Collaborate closely with founders, product leaders, and stakeholders
- Build and iterate quickly in a lean, agile environment
- Support hiring and mentoring of future engineering team members
- Contribute to long-term technical roadmap and scalability planning
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of software engineering experience
- Proven experience building and launching scalable applications from early stages
- Strong proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Node.js, Java, or Go)
- Experience with modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular)
- Deep understanding of cloud-native architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience designing APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
- Strong problem-solving ability and comfort operating in ambiguity
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior startup or founding team experience
- Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization
- Exposure to AI/ML, fintech, or high-scale data systems (client dependent)
- Leadership or team-building experience
