Our client, a design build general contractor located in north Denver, is seeking to hire a Project Executive / Business Development professional.



Job Description:


The Project Executive/Business Development Leader



The primary function of the Project Executive/Business Development Leader is to assume a key role as a member of a multi-disciplinary team collectively responsible for initiating, and successfully processing opportunities, resulting in new project acquisition.


This person will bridge the gap between company leadership, project teams, and clients. Responsible for leading the client and team through the entire design build process to completion of the project. Ensure that projects finish on time, stay within budget, and meet high profitability and safety goals. Responsible for contacting, meeting and establishing new business relationships in various markets for the purpose of securing profitable relationships. This role will focus on the Metro Denver region, consequently our interest is in local candidates.


The Project Executive/Business Development person is required to have previously worked with an established Commercial general contractor in business development. The successful candidate will bring a book of business contacts to the company for the commercial design- build and design-assist areas of construction. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the Denver construction and development market. Must be an excellent communicator, understand contracts, network, and create new relationships/partnerships in the business community.



Reporting Relationships:


The Project Executive/ Business Development position reports to the VP of Preconstruction. 


Job Duties and Responsibilities:


The Project Executive/Business Development person’s duties and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following activities in accordance with policies and procedures, or as directed by the VP of Preconstruction:


  • Set high-level goals for multiple projects and align them with company growth.
  • Supervise and mentor senior project managers, project managers, and field superintendents.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, manage expectations, and secure new business contracts.
  • Oversee budgets, approve major spending, review financial reports, and maximize profit margins.
  • Identify potential project risks, ensure safety compliance, and resolve high-level disputes.
  • Identify and prioritize current or future design-build and design-assist construction pursuits, potential business deals and potential partners;
  • Develop leads / build relationships with potential clients, introduce business team i.e. sales, pre-design, design, and estimating departments
  • Build and maintain executive level relationships with owner and act as main point of contact relative to future work
  • Assist/lead team in closing new business opportunities
  • Develop and assist/lead in negotiating contracts
  • Integrate contract requirements with business operations
  • Report on planned and executed sales activities to appropriate levels of management
  • Keep management apprised of current and anticipated market conditions
  • Maintain a strong network and maintain ongoing client relationships after project start-up
  • Regional and occasional travel outside of region may required



Technical:


Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, Project software.


Education and Experience:


A minimum of 10 years of successful Business Development experience in the Commercial Construction industry in Denver. Must be highly-motivated to source leads and prospects, and be instrumental in closing the deals. Must be a problem-solver with demonstrated ability to evaluate business opportunities and develop winning strategies to secure new and repeat business. Must have excellent communication, presentation, and relationship building skills. Ability to produce highly professional proposals and presentations. Ability to develop business from pursuit to design, through preconstruction and construction. Proven ability to work well in a team environment. Maintain industry memberships and participate in organizations and events. Construction management degree and estimating experience a plus.
