Role: Data Engineer
Overview: This is a fixed-term, full-time role sitting within the Business Data function, reporting to the Head of Business Data and Reporting. You will own the design, development, and optimisation of data infrastructure, enabling robust analytics and reporting across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes for the Microsoft Fabric Data Warehouse
• Develop and optimise data warehousing solutions for large, complex datasets
• Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security across all reporting and analytics platforms
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical data solutions
• Develop and maintain governance frameworks, data dictionaries, and architectural documentation
• Support regulatory reporting, compliance, and data privacy including GDPR
• Drive continuous improvement through advanced analytics and data engineering best practices
• Support system migrations, UAT, and automated testing frameworks
Requirements:
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or Data Architect
• SQL proficiency and experience with Python or PySpark
• Experience with data warehousing, data pipelines, and ETL/ELT processes
• Data visualisation experience using Power BI, Tableau, or SSRS
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric or similar platforms
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to prioritise and deliver in a high-change environment
Nice to Have:
• Background in mortgage lending or financial services
• Knowledge of GDPR and data privacy frameworks
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, or automated testing
• Familiarity with Change Data Capture or event-driven architecture
