Mechanical Drafter

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter to join our Drafting team. In this role, you will create accurate 2D engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation using AutoCAD Mechanical and Autodesk Inventor.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with mechanical designs, understands manufacturing processes, and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality drawings that support engineering and production.

Key Responsibilities

• Create 2D detail drawings and 3D CAD models from sketches, markups, and engineering instructions.
• Develop accurate manufacturing drawings from existing machined and fabricated components.
• Create general arrangement drawings, assembly drawings, and 3D models as directed.
• Review drawings for accuracy, dimensions, details, and drafting standards before submitting them to Engineering.
• Maintain organized electronic drawing files using Autodesk Vault.
• Prepare check prints, drawings, and technical documents according to project requirements.
• Follow company drafting standards, procedures, and best practices.
• Work closely with engineers and other team members to ensure designs are accurately documented.
• Maintain strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Mechanical, Autodesk Inventor Professional, and Autodesk Vault.
• Stay current with new CAD technology, drafting methods, and industry best practices.
• Apply knowledge of mechanical design and manufacturing processes when creating drawings and models.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in mechanical drafting, CAD drafting, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Mechanical and Autodesk Inventor Professional (2020 or newer).
• Practical experience using Autodesk Vault or a similar document management system.
• Completion of a one-year Drafting/Design program from an accredited school is preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer and mathematical skills.
• Good understanding of mechanical drafting standards, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to read and interpret sketches, markups, and mechanical drawings.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with engineers and production teams.
