The Role


Overseeing a portfolio of clients you will be:


  • Responsible for providing a bookkeeping, VAT, and management accounts, using both manual and computerised accounting systems.
  • Undertake work on a portfolio of clients on behalf of various managers/partners. The volume of client work will depend on the size, complexity and nature of the clients and the volume of supervisory work undertaken.
  • Take responsibility for the flow of accounts jobs supervising junior staff, allocating and reviewing work
  • Preparing and reviewing year end statutory accounts
  • Liaising with clients where required
  • Other ad-hoc duties as may be required from time to time in order to assist the smooth running of the practice or provide additional assistance to clients


You will have


  • Significant previous experience in accounts preparation, bookkeeping and VAT work, operating at the level of Accounts Senior or equivalent
  • Confidence in using accounting software packages including Sage, Xero, QuickBooks Online, Dext, and confident Excel skills, as well as an interest in continuing to develop knowledge in this area.
  • Can demonstrate a strong technical and commercial knowledge and understanding of accounts processes including (but not limited to) knowledge of current accounting standards, VAT and corporation tax matters
  • Ability to work autonomously, but also collaboratively supporting colleagues as needed
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work, particularly during peak periods of work
  • The ability to communicate confidently with colleagues and clients and to quickly build good working relationships and maintain rapport.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to assess situations and problem solve, proactively managing client and team relationships.
