CNC Turner - Setter/Operator

Location: Bristol

Salary: £35,500 - £41,500 per annum

Shift: Rotating Double Day Shift

THOMAS Professional is recruiting an experienced CNC Turner - Setter/Operator to join an established precision engineering manufacturer based in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Turner who is confident setting and operating CNC turning machines and producing high-quality precision components to tight tolerances. The position operates on a rotating double day shift, alternating between early and late shifts, with an early finish on Fridays.

The Role

As a CNC Turner - Setter/Operator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting and operating CNC turning machines
  • Working with Fanuc controls
  • Producing precision components from engineering drawings and specifications
  • Setting tooling, work offsets and machine datums
  • Manufacturing soft jaws where required
  • Selecting and installing appropriate cutting tools, tool holders and fixtures
  • Monitoring machining processes and making adjustments where required
  • Inspecting components using precision measuring equipment
  • Working to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
  • Troubleshooting tooling and machining issues
  • Optimising speeds, feeds and cycle times where appropriate
  • Completing relevant production and inspection documentation

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone with:

  • Previous experience as a CNC Turner Setter/Operator
  • Strong experience setting and operating CNC turning machines
  • Good working knowledge of Fanuc controls
  • The ability to fully set machines independently
  • Confidence reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Good understanding of tolerances and GD&T
  • Experience using measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and plug gauges
  • Good understanding of tooling, speeds, feeds and machining parameters
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Experience within a precision engineering or highly regulated manufacturing environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
