Director of Operations
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead and optimize operational processes across project execution, logistics, and cross-functional initiatives. This role is responsible for overseeing complex projects with shifting timelines, coordinating multiple stakeholders, and ensuring the efficient movement, delivery, and execution of high-value products or services. The ideal candidate is a hands-on operational leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, makes sound decisions independently, and leads teams with a firm but collaborative approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operational activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Oversee multiple concurrent projects while balancing changing priorities, timelines, and stakeholder expectations.
- Develop and improve operational processes to increase efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, vendors, and field personnel to ensure seamless project execution.
- Monitor project performance, identify operational risks, and implement proactive solutions.
- Manage logistics, scheduling, resource allocation, and the movement of high-value materials, products, or equipment.
- Establish operational goals, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, clients, vendors, and business partners.
- Mentor and develop team members while fostering accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.
- Provide regular operational updates and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and industry regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Significant operations, project management, or logistics leadership experience.
- Proven success managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and evolving timelines.
- Strong understanding of logistics, operations, distribution, field services, construction, installation, or other project-driven environments.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead autonomous teams while maintaining accountability and operational discipline.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organization.
- Experience driving process improvements and implementing operational best practices.
- Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
- Willingness to relocate as required for the role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in high-value goods logistics, distribution, installation operations, construction, trades, museum or art logistics, or similar project-based industries.
- Background managing operations involving physical products, field teams, or complex installations.
- Experience preparing organizations for growth and scaling operational processes.
- Demonstrated leadership potential with the ability to progress into senior executive leadership roles.
