General Description:

The Business Developer, Arbor Management Division, plays a key role in the overall organizational structure of the division. This position is responsible for building a customer base with new and existing clients, while identifying prospective customers and serving as the initial contact to determine viability and desirability as a targeted account. The Business Developer’s maximum performance objectives are to facilitate revenue growth, increase customer retention and market share, cross sell, represent LDI in professional trade associations, identify new markets, conduct competitive and market intelligence, maintain profitability at set target levels, and maintain a positive customer satisfaction.


Basic functions include:

  • Conduct on-site evaluations and prepare estimates, timely proposals and presentations
  • Deliver and follow up on proposal packages
  • Achieve maximum sales volume and profit consistent with division objectives

  • Conduct cold calls and follow up on new customer leads
  • Promote, sell and increases business with existing clients
  • Provide customers with timely and relevant information on products and services
  • Anticipate customer needs and interests and recommends solutions and services to meet those needs.
  • Report on sales activity results and track individual results against goals
  • Submit periodic commission reports per EAM’s schedule.
  • Partner with other division’s team members, especially maintenance divisions, and cross sell other segments, whenever possible.
  • Respond to all client calls and inquiries in a timely manner
  • Participate in trade/industry association activities, including organizations such as Building Owners and Management Association (BOMA), Community Associations Institute (CAI), and other related trade groups
  • Adhere to and promote company values, such as “Raving Fan” service standards, as well as other company values and mission


Requirements Profile:

· 3-5 years of business development experience

· Self-starter, motivated to meet sales goals with minimum supervision

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Proven track record in business development, preferably within arbor care or landscape industry

· Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook applications, as well as software systems used to track and manage business development activities and results

· Problem-solving ability

· Creative in developing and implementing “outside-the-box” business development approaches and solutions

· Willing to work “in the field,” with regular local driving and occasional travel; requires valid driver’s license
