Director of Training

We are building medicines that target the pathologic cells driving aging, so discovery can become durable healthspan. That only works if every scientist, operator, and partner can execute at the same standard. This role designs the capability system that turns ambitious science into repeatable, inspection-ready performance.

Performance Objectives

  • Stand up a company-wide training system within two quarters that covers onboarding, role-specific skills, and GxP fundamentals for a growing early-stage team.
  • Cut time-to-independent contribution for new scientific and technical hires by defining clear competency gates and measuring completion against them.
  • Build and run curricula for laboratory practice, data integrity, quality, and cross-functional handoffs so critical work is done right the first time.
  • Partner with scientific and quality leaders to close skill gaps tied to program milestones, and show progress with completion, assessment, and error-trend data.
  • Create a train-the-trainer model so subject-matter experts can teach without slowing the science.
  • Establish a simple learning record and audit trail that leadership and quality can trust during reviews and partner diligence.
  • Refresh priority programs each year based on pipeline needs, inspection findings, and team feedback—not a static catalog.

Environment & Resources

You will sit with a small, senior team in a private, early-stage biotechnology company and report to the executive responsible for people and operational excellence, with a dotted line to Quality. Expect a lean budget, modern learning tools you help select, and direct access to scientific leads. Success depends on influence, not a large staff: you will design the system, coach internal trainers, and use external specialists only where they clearly raise the standard.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven record building training or capability programs in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or another regulated life-science setting.
  • Hands-on fluency with GxP expectations, data integrity, and how training evidence is used in quality decisions.
  • Ability to translate complex science into practical curricula that bench scientists and operators will actually use.
  • Experience setting competency standards and measuring whether training changed performance, not just attendance.
  • Comfort operating as a player-coach in a company of roughly 11–50 people, with shifting priorities and limited support staff.

Role Selling Points

  • Shape how a discovery-stage company learns, before process calcifies.
  • Work beside scientists translating cellular-aging biology into medicines for aging-related disease.
  • Own outcomes end to end: design, delivery, measurement, and the quality record.
  • Visible impact—your system will determine how fast new colleagues can contribute to programs that matter.
