Site Safety Professional

As Site Safety Professional, you will own the daily execution on active jobsites so every crew goes home safe, every shift. Your work directly protects lives, protects our 50-year reputation, and lets us deliver high-quality work under union agreements with Operating Engineers, Carpenters, Cement Masons, and Laborers.

Performance Objectives

  • Drive zero recordable incidents and zero lost-time injuries across assigned sites within the first 90 days by conducting daily pre-task planning, hazard hunts, and real-time coaching of crews.
  • Achieve 100% compliance with Cal/OSHA, federal, and owner-specific safety requirements on every project by completing documented inspections, JSAs, and corrective-action close-outs within 24 hours.
  • Reduce near-miss recurrence 50% year-over-year by leading weekly safety huddles, capturing leading indicators, and implementing targeted training for high-risk activities (earthmoving, paving, bridge work).
  • Onboard and qualify 100% of new craft and subcontractors on safety standards before they set foot on site, measured by signed acknowledgments and first-week observation scores.
  • Deliver monthly leading-indicator dashboards to the Project Manager and Safety Director that forecast risk and trigger proactive interventions, keeping EMR and experience-mod below industry average.
  • Champion environmental stewardship by ensuring spill prevention, dust control, and waste-handling plans are executed daily, supporting our vision of responsible infrastructure solutions.

Environment & Resources

You report to the Safety Director and partner daily with Superintendents, Project Managers, and union craft on jobsites throughout Los Angeles County. You will have full access to current safety software, PPE budget, third-party industrial-hygiene support, and authority to stop work. Typical projects range from highway interchanges to site development, using the latest grading, paving, and concrete technologies.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven track record of reducing incidents on heavy-civil or infrastructure sites (grading, paving, bridges, roadways) with measurable leading and lagging results.
  • Current OSHA 30, CHST or equivalent, and Cal/OSHA competent-person certifications; ability to obtain additional owner-required credentials within 30 days.
  • Hands-on experience writing and enforcing JSAs, hot-work permits, excavation, fall-protection, and confined-space programs in a union environment.
  • Ability to influence craft and supervision through coaching rather than citation, demonstrated by improved observation scores and reduced repeat findings.
  • Valid driver’s license, willingness to travel daily among Southern California jobsites, and physical ability to walk uneven terrain and climb as needed.

Role Selling Points

  • Direct impact on a 50-year family-owned builder whose reputation is built on integrity, respect, and exceeding industry standards.
  • Authority and resources to stop work and implement solutions without layers of bureaucracy.
  • Clear path to grow with a company that invests in employee development and community give-back.
  • Work on high-visibility infrastructure that Southern California actually uses every day.
