Human Resources Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to support and enhance HR operations across a multi-state organization. This role will serve as a trusted partner to leadership and employees, providing guidance on employee relations, compliance, performance management, talent initiatives, and HR best practices.
The ideal candidate is a polished and professional HR leader with experience supporting employees across multiple states, preferably within a professional services environment. This position requires strong knowledge of employment laws, excellent communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex HR matters with discretion and sound judgment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and day-to-day HR support to employees and management across multiple states.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, with particular emphasis on California employment practices.
- Advise managers on employee relations matters, performance management, coaching, corrective actions, and workplace investigations.
- Support employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, offboarding, policy administration, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks to ensure legal compliance and operational effectiveness.
- Partner with leadership to develop and implement HR programs that support organizational goals and employee development.
- Manage leave of absence programs and employee accommodations in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Monitor and support compensation, benefits, and workforce planning initiatives.
- Assist with HR reporting, audits, compliance reviews, and documentation management.
- Promote a positive workplace culture while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives to enhance HR operations and employee experience.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Experience supporting employees across multiple states, including California.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
- Experience working within a professional services environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Professional presence with the ability to effectively interact with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
Preferred
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
- Experience within a legal or law firm environment.
- Previous supervisory or people management experience.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or developing HR team members.
