Project Manager
Position Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of construction projects from preconstruction through completion. This role manages project schedules, budgets, subcontractors, quality control, documentation, design coordination, safety, and client relationships to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to contract requirements.
The ideal candidate has strong construction project management experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience with food processing, food distribution, cold storage, industrial manufacturing, or complex renovation projects is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Manage projects from preconstruction through final completion and closeout.
- Coordinate project activities among owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
- Administer and enforce subcontract agreements, project requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Manage change orders, project documentation, insurance requirements, and risk mitigation.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with project stakeholders.
- Ensure projects are delivered according to scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage project budgets and general conditions.
- Prepare initial budget breakdowns and monitor project costs throughout construction.
- Review and approve subcontractor pay applications, invoices, and other project expenses.
- Negotiate and manage subcontractor change orders.
- Review monthly cost reports and identify potential budget risks or variances.
- Provide accurate financial updates and cost analysis to project leadership.
Scheduling & Coordination
- Develop, maintain, and update project schedules throughout procurement, design, and construction.
- Coordinate procurement activities and track long-lead materials and equipment.
- Review subcontractor schedules and short-term look-ahead schedules.
- Evaluate the schedule impact of change orders and other project changes.
- Establish and communicate key project milestones and deadlines.
- Take proactive action to address potential schedule delays.
Document Management
- Oversee project document control and ensure project records remain accurate and current.
- Maintain drawing, specification, submittal, and revision logs.
- Coordinate distribution of updated drawings and specifications to project stakeholders.
- Manage the RFI process and ensure questions are addressed in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized project records throughout the project lifecycle.
Quality Control
- Review product submittals, samples, shop drawings, and other technical documentation.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure work complies with contract documents and project specifications.
- Identify, document, and resolve quality issues and deficiencies.
- Coordinate inspections and corrective actions as needed.
- Manage punch-list activities and project closeout.
- Conduct lessons-learned reviews and identify opportunities for future improvement.
Design Management
- Coordinate design activities and schedules with architects, engineers, and other design professionals.
- Communicate project requirements and owner expectations to the design team.
- Facilitate design review meetings and coordinate design-related decisions.
- Review design proposals and assist with design contract administration.
- Coordinate permitting requirements and schedules with design teams and applicable authorities.
Preconstruction
- Manage and oversee preconstruction activities, including:
- Subcontractor solicitation and prequalification
- Quantity take-offs
- Material research
- Bid package development
- Scope development and review
- Bid comparisons
- Identify potential project risks and opportunities during the preconstruction phase.
- Coordinate estimating and design activities to establish a complete and achievable project plan.
Safety
- Promote and enforce project safety requirements and company safety standards.
- Ensure project teams and subcontractors follow applicable safety procedures.
- Maintain required safety certifications and documentation.
- Promote a strong safety culture and lead by example on the jobsite.
- Address unsafe conditions and practices promptly.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and project partners.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for project-related matters.
- Communicate project status, risks, financial performance, and schedule updates clearly.
- Understand client objectives and proactively address concerns.
- Maintain a professional, solutions-oriented approach throughout the project.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.

5+ years of experience in construction project management or a related role.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, contracts, scheduling, budgeting, and project controls.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and project stakeholders.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with food processing, food distribution, cold storage, industrial manufacturing, or commercial construction.
- Experience managing complex renovations involving equipment, machinery, process systems, or specialized installations.
- Experience with Bluebeam and Procore.
- Experience managing projects across multiple locations or geographically dispersed jobsites.
- Strong understanding of subcontractor management, change orders, and construction financial controls
