Vice President of Business Development

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Business Development to lead strategic growth initiatives within the medical device manufacturing and injection molding market. This executive-level role will focus on developing new business, building and expanding relationships with Medical Device OEMs, and positioning the organization as a trusted outsourcing partner.

The ideal candidate is a high-energy, proactive, and commercially driven leader with a strong track record of selling into injection molding environments and medical device manufacturing organizations. The successful candidate will bring established industry relationships, strong business development discipline, and the ability to identify opportunities, open doors, and convert relationships into long-term partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Growth

  • Develop and execute business development strategies focused on Medical Device OEMs and injection molding opportunities.
  • Identify, prospect, and develop new business opportunities within the medical device manufacturing and outsourcing market.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders across prospective and existing client organizations.
  • Develop a strong understanding of customer needs, manufacturing requirements, and outsourcing opportunities.
  • Lead the sales process from initial prospecting and relationship development through opportunity qualification, proposal, negotiation, and close.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities aligned with organizational growth objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for expanding existing customer relationships and developing additional business opportunities.

Client & Relationship Management

  • Serve as a trusted strategic partner to Medical Device OEMs and other key customers.
  • Establish strong relationships with executive, engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, procurement, and operations stakeholders.
  • Leverage industry relationships and market knowledge to create introductions and develop qualified opportunities.
  • Understand customer challenges and translate manufacturing capabilities into compelling business solutions.
  • Maintain regular engagement with key accounts to strengthen relationships and identify future opportunities.
  • Represent the organization professionally in customer meetings, industry events, conferences, and networking activities.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner closely with plant leadership, manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, product development, and other internal teams to evaluate customer opportunities.
  • Coordinate internal resources to ensure customer requirements can be effectively evaluated and supported.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to develop appropriate solutions, proposals, and commercialization strategies.
  • Communicate customer requirements, market intelligence, and business opportunities to internal leadership.
  • Help ensure customer commitments are aligned with manufacturing capabilities, capacity, quality requirements, and business objectives.

Strategic Market Development

  • Monitor trends within the medical device, injection molding, and outsourced manufacturing markets.
  • Identify emerging opportunities, customer needs, and competitive developments that may influence business strategy.
  • Provide leadership with market intelligence and recommendations for expanding the organization's customer base.
  • Develop strategies to increase market penetration and strengthen relationships with high-value Medical Device OEMs.
  • Support long-term commercial planning and revenue growth initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive business development, sales, or commercial experience within medical device manufacturing, contract manufacturing, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated experience selling directly to Medical Device OEMs.
  • Significant experience selling into injection molding environments.
  • Proven track record of developing and closing new business within complex manufacturing environments.
  • Established relationships with Medical Device OEMs, particularly within organizations that utilize injection molding or outsourced manufacturing services.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify specific customers, develop relationships with key decision-makers, and convert those relationships into meaningful business opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of medical device manufacturing, outsourcing, and injection molding processes.
  • Experience working with cross-functional manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, and product development teams.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage complex sales cycles and multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support customers and business development activities.
