Director of Talent & Development

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Talent & Development to lead talent operations, workforce planning, organizational development, and talent management initiatives that support business growth and organizational effectiveness. This leadership role is responsible for developing scalable talent strategies, optimizing talent processes, and partnering with leadership to ensure the organization attracts, develops, and retains high-performing talent.

The ideal candidate will combine strategic thinking with operational excellence and possess strong experience in talent operations, performance management, workforce planning, organizational development, and HR systems. This role requires a collaborative leader who can drive organizational effectiveness while supporting evolving business priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Strategy & Workforce Planning

  • Lead talent operations and workforce planning initiatives to support organizational growth and business objectives.
  • Partner with executive leadership and department leaders to align talent strategies with workforce needs and long-term business goals.
  • Develop and implement talent planning processes that support hiring, succession planning, retention, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Monitor workforce trends and provide recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

Talent Acquisition & Recruiting Operations

  • Oversee recruiting operations and talent acquisition processes to ensure efficient, scalable, and effective hiring practices.
  • Lead and develop recruiting teams and talent advisors to improve hiring outcomes, candidate experience, and stakeholder partnerships.
  • Drive consistency and operational excellence across recruiting workflows, approvals, reporting, and hiring processes.
  • Partner with hiring managers and business leaders to support workforce growth initiatives and talent acquisition strategies.

Performance Management & Employee Development

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of performance management programs.
  • Support a culture of accountability, performance feedback, employee growth, and professional development.
  • Partner with leaders to identify development opportunities and support talent advancement initiatives.
  • Assist in building career development frameworks, leadership development programs, and succession planning efforts.

Organizational Effectiveness & Change Management

  • Support organizational planning initiatives, workforce optimization, and organizational design efforts.
  • Lead talent-related process improvements that enhance operational efficiency, scalability, and employee experience.
  • Partner with leadership teams to support organizational change initiatives and workforce transitions.
  • Ensure talent programs effectively support business performance and organizational agility.

HR Systems, Analytics & Reporting

  • Oversee talent-related HR systems, reporting, and workflow optimization initiatives.
  • Support HR technology implementations, enhancements, and process improvements.
  • Develop workforce analytics and reporting related to hiring, retention, engagement, performance, and talent risks.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to support talent strategies and business decisions.

Employee Lifecycle & Talent Operations

  • Oversee onboarding, promotions, transfers, organizational changes, and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Ensure talent management processes are administered consistently and effectively.
  • Support compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and governance requirements.
  • Collaborate with HR, finance, and business leaders to ensure alignment across talent initiatives and operational priorities.

Qualifications

  • 8–12+ years of progressive experience in talent operations, talent management, organizational development, HR operations, staffing, recruiting leadership, or related fields.
  • Experience leading talent programs within high-growth, fast-paced organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of workforce planning, talent acquisition, performance management, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Proven experience balancing strategic planning with hands-on operational execution.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience utilizing workforce metrics and talent analytics to drive decisions.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms and talent management systems, preferably Workday or similar solutions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of an organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting technology-enabled, SaaS, digital, media, data services, or similar growth-oriented organizations.
  • Experience in private equity-backed, rapidly scaling, or transformational business environments.
  • Experience leading HR technology implementations or HR systems transformation initiatives.
  • Background in organizational design, change management, or leadership development programs.
