Senior Tax Associate

Position Overview

A growing public accounting firm is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Tax Associate to join its professional services team. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in tax preparation, client service, and team collaboration. The successful candidate will work closely with clients and internal team members on a variety of tax and accounting matters while contributing to process improvements and mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and other business entities
  • Maintain a solid understanding of current accounting standards and tax regulations applicable to both business and individual clients
  • Assist clients with tax planning, compliance, and general accounting matters
  • Collaborate with team members and management on client engagements and special projects
  • Mentor and support junior staff by providing guidance, training, and technical assistance
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and contribute to enhancing internal processes
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication and professional service
  • Identify additional service opportunities for existing and prospective clients and communicate them to management
  • Assist with research and resolution of tax-related issues and notices
  • Ensure work is completed accurately and within established deadlines

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Current CPA license or actively pursuing CPA certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of public accounting experience
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of tax preparation, tax compliance, and accounting principles
  • Experience with tax and accounting software platforms; familiarity with Thomson Reuters software and QuickBooks is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
