Tax Manager – Advisory Services
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to support and execute the strategic objectives of a growing Tax Advisory Services practice. This role serves as a key advisor to high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, closely held businesses, and family offices, delivering customized tax planning, compliance, and advisory solutions.
The Tax Manager will oversee client engagements, manage and mentor tax professionals, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, timely service. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities
Client Advisory & Engagement Management
- Support the strategic direction of the Tax Advisory Services team in collaboration with senior leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, and family offices
- Deliver tailored tax planning strategies and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Manage daily client engagements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and exceptional service
- Develop comprehensive tax strategies aligned with client objectives while identifying optimization opportunities
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor Managers, Seniors, and Associates
- Provide technical guidance, performance feedback, and career development support
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning
- Develop high-potential talent and prepare team members for future leadership roles
Practice & Financial Management
- Monitor engagement performance, including realization, utilization, and profitability
- Collaborate with leadership on billing, client onboarding, and engagement planning
- Partner with Operations and Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning
- Ensure engagement compliance with internal policies, risk protocols, and quality standards
- Leverage technology and analytics to streamline workflows and improve efficiency
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA or EA designation required
- 8–12 years of progressive tax experience
- Significant experience working with high-net-worth individuals, closely held businesses, and multi-entity structures
- Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws
- Hands-on experience with S corporations, partnerships, and trust taxation
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and lead teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work approximately 48–50 hours per week
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong work ethic and collaborative approach

Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Taxation, JD, or related advanced credential
- Experience at a national or large regional accounting/advisory firm
- Proficiency in preparing and reviewing S Corporation and trust tax returns
- Familiarity with sales and use tax advisory matters
- Experience advising on business transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and entity restructuring
- Working knowledge of tax compliance and workflow systems (e.g., CCH or similar platforms)
