Job Title: HR Generalist
Position Overview
The HR Generalist supports day-to-day human resources operations with a focus on onboarding coordination, benefits administration, payroll support, and employee services. This role ensures consistent execution of core HR processes while delivering a high-quality employee experience.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, service-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining compliance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Onboarding & Employee Experience
- Coordinate onboarding logistics, including scheduling and conducting New Hire Orientation (NHO)
- Prepare and distribute onboarding materials to new hires
- Instruct employees on I-9 documentation requirements and ensure timely submission
- Complete I-9 verification, E-Verify processing, and related compliance documentation
- Track completion of onboarding tasks, including voicemail setup and benefits enrollment deadlines
- Coordinate business card orders and other onboarding-related logistics
Benefits Administration & Leave Management
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries
- Communicate benefits and retirement plan information to new hires
- Ensure timely completion of benefit elections and follow up as needed
- Lead annual Open Enrollment processes, including preparation of materials and employee communications
- Manage employee communications related to parental leave and other leaves of absence
- Process State Disability Insurance (DI), Paid Family Leave (PFL), and Short-Term Disability (STD) claims
Payroll Coordination & Administration
- Liaise with outsourced payroll vendors to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
- Submit tax notices, retirement plan changes, and other payroll updates to vendors
- Maintain payroll backup files and supporting documentation
Employee Relations & HR Support
- Provide coaching and guidance to employees on HR-related matters as appropriate
- Respond to routine employee inquiries with professionalism and discretion
- Support initiatives that foster a positive employee experience
Reporting, Compliance & Policy Support
- Assist with compensation surveys and data collection efforts
- Support the development, maintenance, and updating of HR policies and documentation
- Ensure adherence to internal processes and compliance standards across assigned responsibilities
Offboarding & Operational Support
- Coordinate IT and administrative communications related to employee terminations
- Manage offboarding processes to ensure proper documentation and smooth transitions
- Provide backup support for background checks, benefit invoicing, and verification of employment (VOE) requests
- Assist with additional HR projects and initiatives as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in HR operations or a generalist role
- Experience supporting onboarding, benefits administration, and payroll coordination
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms (e.g., Paycom or similar systems)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a service-oriented approach
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Experience in a professional services environment preferred
