About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and detail-oriented Family Law Attorney to join our legal team. This role is ideal for an attorney who can blend rigorous legal expertise with empathy and professionalism when guiding clients through sensitive and often emotionally charged matters. You will represent clients in all areas of family law, manage cases independently, and collaborate with internal staff to deliver exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in a wide range of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, paternity, domestic violence, prenups/postnups, and spousal support.
  • Conduct legal research, draft petitions, motions, discovery, settlement agreements, and related filings.
  • Prepare cases for mediation, arbitration, and trial; advocate on clients' behalf in hearings and court proceedings.
  • Develop and execute legal strategies tailored to clients’ goals and circumstances.
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and internal legal assistants/paralegals.
  • Negotiate settlements and help clients understand realistic outcomes, risks, and next steps.
  • Manage case deadlines, filings, and administrative details to ensure compliance with state and local rules.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold the firm's standards of professionalism and ethics.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar license in [State]; in good standing.
  • 2+ years of experience practicing family law (will consider strong candidates with broader litigation backgrounds).
  • Strong litigation, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload while delivering attentive client service.
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to support and guide clients through complex personal situations.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with mediation or collaborative law.
  • Trial experience in family court.
  • Fluency with family law practice management tools (e.g., Clio, MyCase).
  • Spanish or other bilingual skills a plus.
