Power BI Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and analytical Power BI Developer to design, develop, and maintain business intelligence solutions that transform complex data into actionable insights. This role will be responsible for developing interactive dashboards and reports, optimizing data sources and models, and partnering with business stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in Power BI, DAX, SQL, and data modeling with the ability to understand business requirements and translate them into clear, meaningful reporting solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Business Intelligence & Reporting

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Translate business requirements into effective reporting and visualization solutions.
• Develop dashboards that provide meaningful insights into key business performance metrics.
• Create customized reporting solutions to address unique business and operational needs.
• Continuously review and improve existing dashboards based on stakeholder feedback and changing business requirements.
• Ensure reports are accurate, reliable, user-friendly, and aligned with business objectives.

Data Management & Modeling

• Develop and maintain efficient data models to support reporting and analytics.
• Connect Power BI to various data sources and ensure reliable integration of business data.
• Develop and optimize data queries using SQL.
• Manage data transformations, relationships, calculations, and reporting structures.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across reporting solutions.
• Troubleshoot data and reporting issues and implement sustainable solutions.

DAX & Power BI Development

• Develop advanced DAX calculations, measures, and calculated columns.
• Utilize Power BI functionality to create dynamic and scalable analytical solutions.
• Optimize report performance, data models, and queries.
• Implement appropriate filtering, drill-downs, visualizations, and other interactive reporting capabilities.
• Follow established development, documentation, and reporting standards.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with Finance, Operations, Marketing, and other business teams to understand reporting requirements.
• Meet with stakeholders to identify key performance indicators and determine the most effective ways to present data.
• Translate complex analytical information into clear and actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Work collaboratively with business users to validate reporting requirements and ensure solutions meet expectations.

Training & Support

• Provide training and guidance to users on Power BI dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics.
• Develop documentation and best practices to support effective use of reporting tools.
• Assist users with troubleshooting and reporting-related questions.
• Promote data literacy and encourage effective use of business intelligence tools throughout the organization.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, data management, and analytical capabilities.
• Evaluate new Power BI features and business intelligence technologies that may improve efficiency and decision-making.
• Recommend innovative solutions to address reporting and data challenges.
• Support the development of scalable analytics processes as business needs evolve.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in Power BI development or business intelligence.
• Strong experience developing Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Proficiency in DAX and SQL.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, relationships, and data visualization principles.
• Experience working with multiple data sources and integrating data for reporting purposes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Power BI Service and Power BI administration.
• Experience with data warehouses, ETL processes, or cloud-based data platforms.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or similar relational databases.
• Experience developing financial, operational, sales, or marketing dashboards.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Power Platform, or related Microsoft data technologies.
• Experience training business users on Power BI and self-service analytics.
• Experience working in a multi-location or multi-business-unit environment.
