Bankruptcy Paralegal

The Client's bankruptcy practice helps clients navigate complex restructurings, creditor rights, and insolvency matters with practical, business-minded counsel. As a Bankruptcy Paralegal you will keep cases moving, filings accurate, and teams aligned so attorneys can deliver results that protect client value and reputation across our 32 offices.

Performance Objectives

  • Prepare, file, and serve complete bankruptcy petitions, schedules, statements, motions, and proofs of claim within court deadlines, achieving 100% on-time filing rate for assigned matters.
  • Maintain real-time case dockets, calendars, and document repositories so attorneys have instant access to status, deadlines, and exhibits for hearings and negotiations.
  • Coordinate with trustees, creditors, and opposing counsel to obtain required documents and information, reducing attorney follow-up time by at least 30% on each case.
  • Draft and proofread notices, affidavits, and correspondence that withstand court scrutiny and support successful outcomes in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 proceedings.
  • Track and reconcile claims, distributions, and fee applications so financial records remain audit-ready and client reporting is accurate.
  • Support trial and hearing preparation by assembling exhibit binders, witness lists, and electronic filings that enable attorneys to present cases efficiently.

Environment & Resources

You will report to a Bankruptcy Partner or Senior Associate within our Business Law group and collaborate with attorneys, other paralegals, and support staff in Philadelphia and across the firm. You will use Relativity, PACER, court e-filing systems, and firm document-management platforms, with access to research tools and administrative support. No personal budget; resources are allocated at the practice-group level.

Essential Qualifications

  • 3+ years preparing and filing bankruptcy documents in federal court, with demonstrated on-time, error-free performance.
  • Proficiency with PACER, CM/ECF, and bankruptcy-specific software; ability to produce court-ready pleadings without attorney redrafting.
  • Experience managing multi-party dockets and coordinating with trustees and creditors in Chapter 7, 11, or 13 cases.
  • Strong written communication that produces clear, accurate notices and correspondence under deadline pressure.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent paralegal certification plus knowledge of Bankruptcy Code and Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure.

Role Selling Points

  • Work on high-stakes matters for Fortune 500 companies and mid-market clients inside a 925-attorney international firm.
  • Direct exposure to sophisticated restructuring and litigation work rather than routine volume processing.
  • Collaborative culture that values practical, business-oriented legal support and professional development.
  • Opportunity to contribute across 32 offices while based in Philadelphia’s established legal market.
