Job Description:
A leading fine jewelry retailer with a longstanding presence in the Miami community is seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Buyer to lead its purchasing and product curation efforts. This role is responsible for developing and executing buying strategies that align with brand vision, customer preferences, and financial targets. The Senior Buyer will manage vendor relationships, oversee product selection, and collaborate closely with merchandising, sales, and marketing teams to ensure a cohesive and profitable product offering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement buying strategies based on sales objectives, market trends, and customer insights.
- Evaluate and manage vendor relationships, negotiating favorable pricing, terms, and exclusivity agreements.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and seasonal demand to maintain a leading market position.
- Analyze sales data to determine optimal inventory levels and identify opportunities for growth and margin improvement.
- Collaborate with merchandising and sales teams to ensure effective product placement and inventory flow.
- Work with the marketing team to support product launches and promotional campaigns, both in-store and online.
- Lead and mentor a team of buyers to ensure strong vendor engagement and consistent alignment with company goals.
- Manage pricing and markdown strategies to maintain competitive positioning while maximizing profitability.
- Oversee product development efforts, ensuring quality, trend alignment, and brand exclusivity.
- Support broader merchandising initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of buying experience in a retail setting; fine jewelry experience preferred.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills with a history of securing advantageous deals.
- Excellent analytical and forecasting skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and inventory management systems (The Edge is a plus).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Highly organized and adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field is a plus.
