Landscape Estimator

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Role Overview

This role is responsible for the precision pricing and strategic bidding of landscape maintenance and enhancement projects for high-density residential communities and HOAs throughout the Salt Lake Valley. The ideal candidate understands that estimating isn't just about square footage—it’s about calculating long-term value, water conservation, and seasonal safety for large-scale residential hubs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Detailed Site Analysis: Perform on-site property walkthroughs to audit turf health, irrigation systems, and plant inventories for bids.
  • Bidding & Proposals: Develop accurate estimates for recurring maintenance, turf conversion (Xeriscaping), and capital improvements (hardscapes, retaining walls, and common areas).
  • Water Conservation Strategy: Calculate ROI for "Smart Irrigation" upgrades and drought-tolerant transitions in accordance with Utah-specific water mandates and rebates.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present bid findings and project scopes clearly to Property Managers and HOA Boards, addressing community-specific concerns and budget constraints.
  • Winter Operations: Pivot to estimating snow and ice management contracts during the shoulder season, utilizing historical SLC weather data to project salt and labor requirements.
  • Cross-Department Handoff: Ensure a seamless transition from "Sold" to "Production" by providing field crews with clear budgets, site maps, and material lists.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 3+ years of landscape estimating, specifically focused on commercial or multi-family residential portfolios.
  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of digital takeoff software (e.g., Stack, LMN, Aspire, or Bluebeam) and CRM systems.
  • Regional Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Intermountain West plant materials, SLC soil types, and high-altitude irrigation challenges.
  • Mathematical Accuracy: Ability to calculate complex labor-hour ratios and material yields with a low margin of error.
  • Professionalism: Strong public speaking and presentation skills for evening HOA board meetings when required.
  • Credentials: Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record for travel between sites along the Wasatch Front.

Compensation & Growth

  • Salary: Competitive base salary ($65k–$125k) plus performance-based incentives.
  • Benefits: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with match; and professional development allowances.
  • Tools: Company-provided vehicle or mileage reimbursement, laptop, and high-precision measuring tools.
