Lead Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead Developer to support the management of an application development team while serving as a hands-on technical contributor. This role will collaborate with internal stakeholders to translate complex requirements into reliable, secure, and scalable applications.

The Lead Developer will also help evaluate and implement emerging software development technologies, including AI-assisted development tools and practices, to improve engineering productivity, code quality, security, testing, and delivery timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with managing the activities and priorities of an application development team.
• Meet with internal stakeholders to understand project requirements and serve as a technical liaison throughout project delivery.
• Support service level agreements, performance monitoring, and timely resolution of production defects.
• Lead the evaluation, adoption, and governance of AI-assisted software development tools and practices.
• Promote operational excellence, secure development practices, and adherence to established development standards.
• Contribute to the strategy and technical direction of internally developed applications.
• Participate in application design, coding, code reviews, testing, debugging, and technical documentation.
• Support new application development, feature enhancements, and bug fixes.
• Benchmark new systems and monitor production application performance.
• Ensure application code is testable, tested, secure, and aligned with development standards.
• Collaborate with IT management and related technical teams to establish realistic project requirements and timelines.
• Identify opportunities to use AI to improve developer productivity, code quality, testing, documentation, and application support.
• Support continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and technical practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of application development experience.
• 2+ years of management experience.
• Strong knowledge of full-stack web development and modern development technologies.
• 4+ years of experience with server-side languages such as PHP, ASP.NET, .NET Core, Go, Python, Java, or Node.js.
• 4+ years of experience with server-side frameworks and CMS platforms such as Next.js, Hono, Express.js, WordPress, CodeIgniter, .NET, or Razor Pages.
• 4+ years of experience with database design and structured queries using platforms such as MySQL, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
• Strong experience with AI coding tools and development environments such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, or Gemini CLI.
• Strong experience designing and implementing APIs, including integration with existing legacy applications.
• Experience with client-side technologies including HTML, JavaScript, CSS, SASS, JSON, and JSON Schema.
• Experience with front-end frameworks such as React, Vue, Angular, jQuery, Foundation, or Bootstrap.
• Experience with virtual development and production environments such as Docker, AWS, VirtualBox, OpenStack, Vagrant, or MAMP.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Jenkins and Ansible preferred.
• Understanding of Agile development principles and methodologies, preferably Scrum.
• Knowledge of software testing methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
