Estimator – Civil / Earthmoving, Paving & Grading


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to lead bidding efforts for earthmoving, grading, and paving projects across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of civil construction, Nevada market conditions, and both public and private bidding procedures. This role requires producing accurate, competitive estimates while collaborating closely with project teams and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for earthwork, grading, paving, and site development projects
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and contract documents to define scopes and pricing structures
  • Source and evaluate material, labor, and equipment costs with up-to-date knowledge of local market conditions
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and vendors to secure competitive pricing and ensure complete bid coverage
  • Attend job walks and pre-bid meetings to gather field insights and project requirements
  • Interface with project management teams to ensure seamless transition from estimate to execution
  • Maintain and improve historical cost data; track bid outcomes to refine estimating accuracy
  • Stay informed on public agency bid procedures, prevailing wage rules, and regulatory compliance

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience estimating civil construction projects (earthwork, paving, grading)
  • Experience across residential, commercial, and industrial site development
  • Strong knowledge of Nevada construction market, labor standards, and pricing trends
  • Proven experience with both public and private sector bidding
  • Proficiency with HeavyBid or similar estimating software is a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret civil plans and technical documents with high accuracy
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and time management skills
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to job sites and pre-bid meetings

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $80,000 – $110,000 annually (DOE)
