Staff Backend Engineer

We are looking for a seasoned Staff Backend Engineer to join a high-performing engineering group focused on building scalable, production-grade systems. This is a senior individual contributor role with meaningful technical influence, where you will help shape architecture, guide development practices, and contribute to the evolution of a modern software platform.

You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and other cross-functional partners, while also serving as a mentor and technical resource to other engineers. The team values thoughtful execution, strong ownership, and a commitment to building reliable, high-quality systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of core backend services and distributed systems
• Architect solutions with a focus on scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Conduct code and design reviews to ensure high engineering standards and consistency
• Identify opportunities to improve system performance, stability, and developer efficiency
• Contribute to technical direction through proactive problem solving and initiative ownership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 8–12 years of professional software engineering experience
• Demonstrated experience leading complex, large-scale technical initiatives
• Strong proficiency in backend development and core engineering principles
• Experience building and operating distributed systems at scale
• Ability to contribute hands-on while influencing architectural direction
• Solid understanding of system design, performance, and reliability considerations
